By Jeff Squires MCHC member

You can feel the anticipation in the air Labor Day weekend is here and Halloween is right around the corner. As you finish up the last details for your Halloween display and look forward to when you can start setting up everything let’s take a few moments to discuss some safety measures. In my years of watching the trick or treaters (ToT’s) parade up and down my block the biggest hazard I have witnessed is tripping on the sidewalk. So make sure any path you have at your haunt is lit well enough so the ToT’s can easily

GLFF Campsite Decorating http://www.motorcityhauntclub.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=82:glffcampsite&catid=1:latest-news&Itemid=50 http://www.motorcityhauntclub.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=82:glffcampsite&catid=1:latest-news&Itemid=50
Greetings,

It's that time of year to announce the annual campsite decorating contest for Great Lakes Fright Fest 2010.  This is the third year for the contest so I'm hoping to see many more participants this year.  The campsite contest is a way for those haunters who don't feel they have the means to participate in the haunted house but still want to participate in the overall Hallowe'en atmosphere and have fun.  There will be a first, second and third place prize for the best campsites.
What I am looking for is creativity first and foremost.  So elaborate or expensive isn't necessarily the thing that is going to win.  I'm looking for clever and creative use of the campsites and I mean ALL the campsite.  The campsite is not just the tent or trailer but also the entire spot including any vehicles, tables, trees, campfires, etc.  I would give examples but then those ideas would be excluded and I'd hate to limit anyone.  Be creative with lights, sound, props, decorations.  Try going retro or give Disney a run for their money.  Expensive doesn't impress me but creative thinking does.  So come on out to GLFF and have fun and maybe win a prize for your talent.

Cheers,
Bryan

Memberlist cleanup http://www.motorcityhauntclub.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=79:cleanup&catid=1:latest-news&Itemid=50 http://www.motorcityhauntclub.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=79:cleanup&catid=1:latest-news&Itemid=50 Attention!

As talked about the Motor City Haunt Club has cleared the membership list of all members who haven't paid there 2010 member dues. Our yearly dues cover from November to October and are due starting November 1st (or the first meeting after that date). What does this mean? If you haven't paid your 2010 dues your account on the club website was deleted and access to the clubs private email list has been closed. How can you fix this? Attend the next meeting and pay your dues and you can begin enjoying full membership privileges again.
