September 2009 with the Motor City Haunt Club


The haunting season is upon us and the MCHC has some exciting things to let you know about this month. 


GreenfieldVillage– The MCHC has been asked once again to lend their haunting expertise to Greenfield Village for their annual Halloween event. Jeff Squires has volunteered to head up the club’s involvement this year. Tuesday, September 15th – The Science of Halloween – hosted by Brewing Chemistry. 7:00 – 9:00 pm, Traffic Jam & Snug, 511 West Canfield St, Detroit, MI - at the corner of Second Ave, just S of Wayne State University.


Curious about the science of Halloween? Then be sure to attend this event. Unmask materials that will disgust you. Experience a fun and informative presentation on things that combine the wonders of science and the thrills and chills of Halloween. That way she can give the staff at Traffic Jam a heads up so they can plan the set up of the room for the event. No charge for admission or parking.


Saturday, September 19th MCHC Informal Club Meeting at the Dam Site Inn – Hell, MI – 11:00 am – 12:30 pm – 4093 Patterson Lake Rd., Hell, MI  48169


The MCHC would like to invite you HELL, Hell, MI that is! We will not be conducting normal club business at this meeting, but members can bring any project(s) they are working on or have completed to share with attendees. We also will have club t-shirts, and membership cards available for pick up. We will also do a quick run down of upcoming events and activities. If you want to join us for lunch we’ve made arrangements for a limited menu to be offered, all attendees will be responsible for their own meal and drinks. As for as cost, plan on bar food pricing. Just Hearse N Around Hearse Club Hearse Show, Screams Ice Cream, Hell, MI – 11:00 am – 4:00 pm, 4045 Patterson Lake Rd, Hell, MI  48169


Since we dragged you to Hell, we thought you might enjoy heading down the street for the Just Hearse N Around Hearse Club’s Annual Hearse Show & Event at Screams Ice Cream in Hell, MI, just a stone throw from the Dam Site Inn. The hearse show brings out hearses from all over Michigan as well as ones from surrounding states and Canada. The hearse show begins at 11:00 am but hearses will be filtering in for hours, so we will get to see a bunch when we get conclude our meeting at the Dam Site Inn and wander down the street to see them.

No trip to Hell is complete without checking out the stores, Screams Ice Cream has a very unique gift shop, along with a great menu of themed frozen treats. Next door is Hell’s General Store and they have some wonderful items as well.

Friday, September 25th, Deadly Intentions, Warren, MI – Opening Night


Deadly Intentions is offering an opening night special of $10.00 admission, and with that admission you are able to go through the haunt as many times as you’d like that evening. Saturday, September 26th, MCHC’s Flint Area Professional Haunt Crawl


This will be our club’s first professional haunt crawl of the 2009 season, and it will take place on Saturday, September 26th. As of now our plan is to visit three haunts that are offering our club discounted admission. The following haunts are on the list for that evening


The Deadlands – 723 S State St, Davison, MI  48423 – Admission $6.00, normally $10.00


Exit 13 – 6069 Saginaw, Mt. Morris, MI – Admission $10.00, normally $13.00


St. Lucifer’s Asylum – 5290 Dort Hwy, Burton, MI – Admission $10.00, 


We are also looking at the possibility of visiting Cellblock 13 which will be on the grounds of St. Lucifer’s as well as The Crypt that evening, which will not be open to the public but might grant us a preview tour. We will keep you posted if we are touring these two haunts.

We also will coordinate car pooling for those interested in going, look for updates on this as we get closer to the date.


There are way too many haunts opening in September to list them all, we tried to highlight the ones offering special discounts. Be sure to look for The Fear Finder and Haunt Guides due out any day now for comprehensive information about local haunted attractions and events. Marcell will update the list of haunts participating in offering MCHC members discounts on admission to their events, so keep an eye out for new additions to the list.
